Unable to decide between multiple passions, Dana Whittle has given up trying. This blog is the answer to her runaway train of thought.
A professional musician, visual artist, web architect and producer, Dana is a product of cultural tradition as the granddaughter of New York Metropolitan Opera singer Avilda Wilson who recorded in the 1920s on the Okeh record label. For more than 30 years, Dana has performed with award-winning Québécois fiddler Claude Méthé, appearing at festivals and venues in Canada, the US and Europe. Highlights include appearances on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion, numerous Radio-Canada broadcasts (most recently with band Zigue, on La Grande Veillée avec Stéphane Archambault), and a stint at Disney’s Epcot Center where she was onstage for 400+ shows. The founder and former president of Québec folk-trad organization Folquébec, Dana has worked with a long list of cultural organizations and countless artists. She has served as a Juno and Canadian Folk Awards juror and taught many workshops on artistic and cultural promotion, in addition to producing countless showcases at regional and international music conferences. She has dedicated much of her life to promoting traditional music and the musicians who keep it alive.
